I'll be heading into Sydney for the Australia Day celebrations tomorrow.

So I'm putting this on today to get everyone motivated to give freely to the Australian Floods appeal BBQs which will be held at all Oz Day events.

Unfortunately due to do my own busy roster and picking up the work of workmate's-on-leave plus the high temperatures on Friday and Saturday. All the plans I had made for Oz Day went by the wayside instead I slept, catnapped and slept the day away I still feel pretty Ugh... and its back to work tomorrow with another full roster.

I was going to put this in the comments section in response to a comment in my Bailey post but I thought I would put it on the 'front page'. I love to read what others have to say about my posts and the response in question I felt was very thought-provoking and I would like to reply with-

Australia Day Celebrations.

When I have gone out and celebrated Oz Day in the city and towns of Australia I haven't once come across any negative experiences from Indigenous Australians, White Australians, Asian Australians, Euro Australians, African Australian or American Australians as the people out celebrating are celebrating their joy of being Australians.

  • Their joy of being in a country not wracked by terrorism, political upheaval or excessive poverty.
  • Their joy of mingling with like-minded persons who are celebrating the Uniqueness of this Great Land so far from the rest of the world.
  • We are encourage to stand up for ourselves.
  • We have the Right to question authority if we feel it is being unfair.

"Professor Dodson accepted the Australian of the Year award at a ceremony outside Parliament House late yesterday in front of an enthusiastic crowd – several dressed in Australian flags. A self-described "persistent bugger", Professor Dodson said many
indigenous Australians saw Australia Day as the day
"our world came crashing down".
"Many of our people call it invasion day," he said."

and cricketer Adam Gilchrist.

In my opinion, Professor Mick Dodson is the man he is today because he was not prepared to sit back and let others make his decisions and he has the Right as an Australian to question authority as any other Australian has.

ps I just saw the news about the trouble some youths have been making on Australian Day, according to police reports, the youth's were out-of-towners causing mischief. As someone who lives in a tourist coastal town I understand how much trouble out-of-towners can make thinking as the local police don't know them they can get away without being identified, they seem to forget that most shopping malls/beaches have CCTV coverage.
